The AIMS Handbook

The AIMS Handbook gives information about preparing for AIMS and the trip to Graz, arrival, check-in, the first week, the faculty hearings, etc. Policies of AIMS regarding performances and other issues are summarized. The topics are grouped into 11 Sections arranged chronologically as you will need the information. Descriptions of living quarters, telephones, eating, shopping, sightseeing and many other details are included. Where to find places and things in Graz and to get help also are covered. The booklet is designed as a handy pocket reference. Its contents reflect the questions asked every summer over the years. If you have a question, first consult The Handbook. More than likely, the answer is there.

Much of the Handbook's advice is based on the many years of experience of AIMS' former directors, Nora Sands and Irma Cooper, to save you time, worry, money and inconvenience and to make you aware of the expectations of the AIMS program. Some of it is about how AIMS operates so you can take advantage of the many opportunities offered. Some of it is to help you avoid difficulty. Though it may have a bureaucratic flavor at times, the issues addressed are included because they have come up over the years. We hope you will read The Handbook from cover to cover so you will know what to expect and what is expected of you. Suggestion:  When you print the booklet, print the ODD pages (1, 3, 5, etc.) and then print the EVEN pages (2, 4, 6, etc.) on the reverse side of the paper.

The AIMS Staff is always ready and willing to help. The Info Desk is open at The School every day from 9 to 4. We want AIMS in Graz to be the best experience of your life.
