Personal and Recorded Auditions are accepted. Personal auditions are preferred. You must bring with you the standard excerpts (listed below) for your instrument. When
no specific parameters are listed, play excerpts as stated in the standard excerpt books, choosing contrasting sections if the
excerpt is extremely lengthy. Please click on 2010 Audition Cities and Dates
to view the audition sites. If the audition cities do not fit your schedule, please submit a Recorded Audition.

Register for a Personal Audition. Payment of the audition fee ($42) by credit card can be
made during registration or you may use the Make Payment page on this web site. No other fees or payments are due until AFTER
you receive a contract inviting you to participate in the AIMS orchestra.
Once your Audition City/Date is confirmed by AIMS, please view details of the
Audition Site locations, addresses, room numbers, driving directions, maps, etc. - Click
HERE.
After registering for an audition, you will receive a Confirmatory email with the link to a document, the
Orchestra Audition Questionnaire. These are the instructions you will be given:
- Open and Print this two-page document.
- Fill out page 1 of the questionnaire, list your repertoire, attach a small photo
and your one-page résumé.
Your résumé should include competitions you have won/placed. Page 2 of the document is used to record the results of your audition.
- BRING these items and your PayPal receipt for the audition fee payment
to your audition and give them to the AIMS Representative.
Also included in this email will be a link to the players contract required by AIMS for participation in the orchestra.
How and When you will be notified of your acceptance. You will be notified in two ways of your acceptance in the orchestra:
by an acceptance email and by posting your name on the
Orchestra Roster page on Thursday, April 1st after all auditions, both live and recorded,
are considered. Accepted players will receive an email offering them a contract and giving enrollment instructions. Details of this
procedure are given in the Admission
Guide for Orchestra.
Recorded Auditions
Recorded auditions are accepted from October 15 to March 15. If positions are open in your category, they may be accepted after March 15.
Please call the AIMS office. Each excerpt must be performed in one take without stopping the recording.
The items to include in a recorded audition packet are:
- Recording labeled with your name and email address
- Your photo
- A one-page résumé
- Audition fee payment (if not paid when registering)
- Recommended but not mandatory: a brief letter of evaluation from your teacher and/or coach (where applicable)
- Postage-paid envelope if you want the tape/CD returned.
- Mail your packet to the AIMS Administrative Office, 28 East 69th St., Kansas City MO 64113.
Before your recorded audition can be evaluated, you must register and pay the audition fee.
